Lily of the Valley
After a cold and dreary winter, The Lily of the Valley emerges in Spring full of promise with its fragrant delicate flowers. A symbol of purity, femininity, and rebirth, it is steeped in legend. In folklore it was considered the flower of fairies, who used its tiny bell as cups for drinking. In Christian legend, some believe the flowers were formed from Eve’s tears as she left the Garden of Eden. In the Victorian era, it symbolized the return to happiness.
On a serious note- this plant is highly toxic, and every part of it is poisonous. Deer, rabbits, and other animals leave it alone. Care should be taken around children and pets. And always wash your hands after handling.
